Kristen Cezat is a Board-Certified Specialist in Neurologic Physical Therapy and a RESNA-certified ATP/SMS. She received her DPT from the University of Central Florida in 2011. She has dedicated her career to rehabilitation and improving lives for adults with spinal cord injury (SCI) and other neurologic conditions. She received the APTA SCI Special Interest Group (SIG) award for Clinical Excellence in SCI Care and has served on APTA ANPT SCI special interest group leadership 2021-2024.
Kristen is the Clinical Education Specialist for Altimate Medical Inc. She has presented locally and nationally on various topics related to assistive technology prescription and interventions and current evidence in spinal cord injury rehabilitation, emphasizing translation into clinical practice.

Course Description
First, this course will review the types and secondary effects of spinal cord injury (SCI). Secondly, we will discuss evidence related to supported standing devices and recommendations for use early after SCI. Lastly, we will discuss functional prognosis for the different types of SCI and how this relates to supported standing device recommendations.
Course Length: 1 hour, valued at 0.1 CEUs for 1 hour of instruction.

- Identify two evidence-based reasons to use an recommend supported standing early after an individual’s spinal cord injury
- Discuss three evidence-based clinical predictors for functional expectations following spinal cord injury and how that affects the function and design of a supported standing device.
