Summary

Perform welding and joining and cutting processes to create parts and product

Specific Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Read job processing travelers
  • Read and understand prints to create parts to those specifications
  • Position parts in jigs or fixtures and clamp parts together along layout marks
  • Turning regulator valves to activate appropriate flow of gases
  • Weld materials:  stainless steel and aluminum to obtain uniform smooth welds [no burn thru, excellent penetration, no porosity and/or undercutting, no cracks, complete, no inclusions, etc.)
  • Grinding and de-burring for proper weld finishing
  • Cleaning and/or degreasing parts (as necessary)
  • Examines completed work pieces for defects and conformance to specifications
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and improve welding processes
  • Fabricate parts as needed.
  • Satisfy requirements of Quality Management & Regulatory Compliance systems
    • Follow applicable policies and procedures
    • Complete records (as necessary)
    • Share ideas for process improvement
    • Assist with corrective & preventive actions and customer feedback/complaint reviews (as appropriate)
  •  Observe Safety Program provisions
    • Maintain clean and safe work area
    • Report potentially unsafe conditions
    • Use equipment and materials properly.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  •  Certificate or degree for welding or pass weld test for MIG and TIG type welding

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of joint design, weld symbols, weld defects and discontinuities
  • Ability read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to complete checklists, documents and reports
  • Ability to work from both sitting and standing positions
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated critical thinking
  • Thorough product knowledge (ActiveAid will provide training)
  • Knowledge of and proficient skill in using a variety of machines
  • Proficiency with measuring tools and inspection equipment
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability in a machine shop environment
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications (prints)
  • Ability to setup complex jobs without assistance or supervision
  • Proficiency with measuring tools and inspection equipment
